My buddy Wayne Paris played first trumpet on The Moving Album, The Album Was Produced by The Legendary Randy Muller Song Writer and both of my boys Wayne Paris and Randy Muller both asked me when the band was first forming if I wanted to be part of The BRASS Constructionband to play Second Trumpet next to my main man Wayne Paris. At that time no one had ever heard of BRASS Construction and my Man Wayne Paris was a " GREAT " Trumpeter, and Randy Muller a Vocalist, Song Writer, Producer and Instrumentalist who doubled on Keyboards and Flute. All of us were truly gifted and learned how to play our instruments inside of East New York's JHS I.S 218's JFK After School Center located at 370 Fountain & Blake Avenue's all of us kept playing together from the sixth grade and now as all of us got older and were promoted to higher grades we all excelled, and now all of us were in the eighth grade JHS 218's School Orchestra, and The Schools Dance Band at the same time and let me tell ya, all of us sounded professional and definitely " SUPER BADD " ! Wayne Paris and I both were now sounding more and more like Louie Armstrong Waw, Waw, Wawing with the mutes on our Trumpets and Randy Muller on Piano tinkling the keys sounding more and more like Duke Ellington and let me tell you, when he was on the Flute, " GOOD LORD ", he sounded just like " Kenny G ", " HIT MAY ", " Owl " !
We were living back in the good old days of, " Power To The People ", before drugs invaded our community, where it was not about how much money you had in your pockets, it was about how much talent you possessed, and how much education and knowledge you could squeeze inside of your big head, "Ha, Ha, Haaaaa " , " Ho Wee " boy they were some, " Good Old Fun ", " FUN Day's and ". No Drugs, All of us got High off the music we played, no one was scared of drive by Shooting, or Hard Rock Gun Totting Drug Dealers, their were barely any Murders in the Hood back then, and Yes, their were gangs, but racism was the biggest thing on our minds back in The HOOD during the 1970's, but like the record say's " GOT MYSELF TOGETHER ", " YEAH " , " Gonna Get ", High hhhh, High, Higher, Uhhh, and We're Moving On " YEAH A Natural High BABE ", Life Was Really Great Back Then, " " !
When Wayne Paris and Randy Muller asked to be part of The BRASS Construction Band at that time I was totally speechless The WEbMAsterwas born with the gift of gab and being caught speechless " Aaaaa " , " Aaaaa " was not one of my normal functioning talents when the fellows asked me to, join their band When asked, I had no choice but to turn both of my boys, " flat down " because I was already playing Second Soprano Trumpet with the already " Famous Wynn Center PAL Marching Corps Band located on Gates and Marcy Avenue's in Bed-Sty Brooklyn. The Wynn Center PAL and The WARRIORS Marching Band from Harlem were The Two " BADDEST " African American Marching Bands in all of The Five Borough's of NYC back in those day's and I was proud to part of it " YEAH ", " HIT MAY " ! Little did I know BRASS CONSTRUCTION would go on a Super World Class Concert Tour around the world to The Outter Limits, yes its one of those rare granddaddy rocking chair memory bragging moments we all want for the future. Yes all of us dream about one day sitting around with the grand kids on our laps looking into their excited wide eyes and telling them what granddaddy really did do back in the day's, so the grand kids can look back into your eye with a cute smile and say as you hugg them and with their cute little voices they say to you ? Grand -Pa-aa, " I LUV YOU SO " !
