Topic: NYC Brooklyn Councilman James Davis
It is with a heavy heart that I speak about the passing of NYC Councilman Mr. James Davis. I first met Councilman Davis at ENY City Councilman Charles Barrons fund raising dinner back in May 2003. Mr. Davis got up to speak after a number of other influential guest he had the whole place rolling in laughter for about 15 minutes as he spoke. He was one of those guys you immediately liked when you first meet him. He spoke about when he was a NYC Police Officer and about how some of the Police Officers in his own Precinct didn't like him. He even mentioned that he had received a few negative threats against his life from fellow uniformed Police and Plain Clothes Police Officers alike. When I heard the news that Councilman Davis had been shot inside of City Hall, I started to believe that maybe it was one of those same Police Officers that made threats upon his life, and I immediately started thinking of ENY City Councilman Charles Barron why? Because Charles Barron I'am proud to say like myself does not bite his words or back down from telling it like it really is. I was so happy that Councilman Charles Barron did not get shot, but losing Councilman Davis a comrade in arms is just as bad. Councilman Davis and I spoke after his speech at the exit door of The Elite Ark Disco and, I'am happy to say "I never got the chance to shake The Reverent Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, or Jessie Jacksons hand" but I sure got a chance to shake hands with a man that will be written into many African/Black History Books in the future NYC Brooklyn Councilman James Davis.
Councilman Davis and I spoke about his participation within organizing resident's for our MTA Petition and collecting signatures from The Clinton Hill & Fort Green Brooklyn Section Area's for our United Community Center MTA Transportation Improvement Committee which I'am Chairman of. The petition covers improvements for The MTA IRT #3 Shuttle Service, The BMT L Train Line, and The Livonia Avenue Walkway Bridge { LAWB }FREE Fare Transfer Point located between ENY and Brownsville Brooklyn which has remained unconnected for over 50 Year's and when connected will serve all resident's throughout the Brooklyn area in the future by alleviating congestion and speeding up mass transit service in the borough of Brooklyn New York. I explained to Mr. Davis how the signature petition could better serve Mr. Davis council district area, he agreed it was a very important transportation issue and one of the most important transportation challenges in the decade of 2003. He told me to call his office next time we had a live on air press conference scheduled because he wanted to be part of it. When we do hold that next live on air press conference I will definitely mention that Councilman James Davis Sprit all doe he has passed on, his sprit will be right there standing shoulder to shoulder next to me throughout the entire news interview and throughout our entire campaign, no matter how year's it may take us to achieve our goal. The only difference between a Great Man ", and a ordinary man is ? The great one's set obtainable goals even doe their mission may seem impossible, they stay the course even in ruff water and sail on to achieve and obtain those goals in the future, Councilman James Davis record of accomplishment "Speaks for Itself " ! Mr Davis was born to "Make A Difference " and not just pass through like so many others do. He reminds me alot of myself, a man that did not give up HOPE, A Man who provided HOPE when everyone around him just gave up. A Man who cut a path through the thick dark Jungle without a compass to navigate by and went on to develop a new path to walk on with his local organizing and Stop The Violence Marches for all NYC resident's to participate, walk on, and be proud of. To many people today have joined The Zombie Dead Walking Tribe, many people say alot of things, but never really mean what they say, their words hold no value and their participation deeds have never been cashed in. Even doe I only met Councilman James Davis for only one night, his hand shake will last me a lifetime. Because he was a Great Man and he is going down in the history books as a fighter for equal rights for all people no matter what skin color they are. Their are certain people that have the power of presence that's what I call it, you know it when your in a crowded room and they walk calmly by you even if you don't know them personally, you can take your eye off of them and still feel their power of presence and their spiritual ora of electrical energy sweeping past you even if they are not a celebrity on TV or a Movie Star. Councilman Davis had that power of presence when he left the Elite Ark Disco's Room that night at Councilman Charles Barrons Fund Raising Dinner at lease to me, many people within that same room on that night commanded the power of presence also and all I did was absorb it and network with as many of those future history makers as I could. When I met with Councilman Davis I introduced myself, we shook my hands and I felt his sincere touch of great spiritual power before me. It blended into my soul to give me strength and carry and take on those mission impossible tasks awaiting me in the future. I'll never forget your big warm smile and eagerness to help complete, a 50 year old impossible mission task, connecting The MTA's Livonia Avenue Walkway Bridge and help turn it into a " FREE Fare Transfer Point between The IRT #3 and The BMT L Train Lines ".
